Our commitment
This shop should be usable by anyone: including people who navigate with the keyboard alone, people who use a screen reader, people who enlarge text and people who do not use a mouse. We treat accessibility as part of the quality of the site, not as an optional extra.
This page states where we actually stand: what works, what does not work yet, and how to tell us if you run into an obstacle.
The standard we follow
Our reference is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA: the international guidelines used to measure the accessibility of a website. Level AA is the level commonly adopted for services offered to the public.
Where we stand
The site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Most requirements are met, but some are not yet: they are listed below, one by one. We would rather say so openly than claim a level of conformance we could not guarantee today.
What works
- The whole purchase path — home, collection, product page, cart, checkout — can be completed with the keyboard alone, in the order in which the content is written.
- Every element reachable with the Tab key shows a visible, clearly marked focus outline.
- Each page starts with a "Skip to main content" link that lets you bypass the menu.
- The mobile menu and the product quick view keep focus inside them while open, close with the Esc key, and return focus to the control that opened them.
- Product photographs have hand-written text descriptions that describe the product rather than repeating the file name.
- Form fields have associated labels, required fields are declared, and error messages are announced to assistive technology.
- Every page has a single main heading and an ordered heading hierarchy, which helps anyone navigating by headings.
- Text can be enlarged to 200% without losing content and without horizontal scrolling.
- If the "reduce motion" preference is enabled in your device settings, animated scrolling is switched off.
- Nothing moves, blinks or scrolls on its own: there is nothing you need to pause.
What does not work yet
These are the problems we know about and have still to fix.
Contrast of some secondary text
Some supporting text, set in a washed-out light blue, does not reach the minimum required contrast ratio: the line under the logo, the captions in the reassurance strip, the "Tax included", "Reference" and "Share" items on the product page, the breadcrumb trail, the collapsed heading of the details panel, and the conditions line under the newsletter form. It remains readable for many people, but not for everyone.
Step numbers in the checkout
In the checkout, the numbers of steps not yet reached are white on a grey that is too light. The same information is repeated in words next to the number, so no step is hidden.
Size selector
On the product page, when you choose a size with the keyboard, the outline marking the size under the cursor is too faint compared with the rest of the page.
Footer on very narrow windows
At around 320 pixels wide, the legal links at the foot of the page do not wrap and force horizontal scrolling. Above that width the problem does not occur.
The seller notice
The line at the top of the page stating who handles sales shrinks to little more than 9 pixels at certain window widths: too small. The same information is repeated in full in the legal notice and in the terms of sale.
Prices in the collection grid
In the product grid the price is not labelled in a way that lets a screen reader announce it as a price: it is read out as a bare number. The individual product page is not affected.
English pages carrying Italian text
Some information pages in the English version still contain the Italian text, without the language of the passage being declared: a screen reader set to English pronounces them incorrectly. We are completing the translations.
Search
There is currently no search field in the header. Products can be reached through the "La collezione" menu item, which lists all of them.
Payment
The final stage of payment takes place in an interface run by the payment service provider. We have no direct control over those screens: if you meet an obstacle there, please tell us anyway and we will pass it on to the provider.
How we tested
The assessment was carried out on 25 August 2026 across the home page, the collection, a product page, the cart, the checkout, sign-in, registration, contact, search results and information pages, in both Italian and English.
We used automated analysis tools and, above all, manual checks: a complete keyboard pass, measurement of contrast ratios against the colours actually rendered on screen, testing at 200% zoom and in a 320-pixel-wide window, and a check of the site's behaviour with the "reduce motion" preference enabled.
Automated tools find only part of the problems. This assessment is not a substitute for testing with disabled people, which we consider the next step.
Reporting an obstacle
If part of the site stops you from doing what you need to do, write to us at store@maior-group.com.
To help us understand quickly, please tell us if you can:
- the address of the page;
- what you were trying to do;
- what happened instead;
- the device, browser and any assistive technology you are using.
We reply as soon as we can. If a fix takes time, in the meantime we will look for another way to help you complete your order.
Updating this page
This statement was written on 25 August 2026 on the basis of an internal assessment of the site. It will be updated whenever work changes the status of any of the points listed above.
